Warranty Policy

Important information about manufacturer warranties, warranty assessments, exclusions and how to request support.

Last updated: 10 June 2026

This Warranty Policy explains how warranty-related matters are handled for products purchased from Onkabetse IT Solutions through our online shop at shop.oitsolutions.co.za.

Many products sold by Onkabetse IT Solutions are covered by manufacturer, supplier or distributor warranties. Warranty terms, warranty periods and claim processes may differ depending on the product, brand, supplier and manufacturer.

1. Manufacturer and supplier warranties

Products may include a manufacturer, supplier or distributor warranty where applicable.

The warranty period and warranty conditions may vary by product type, brand, model and supplier. Customers should review the product documentation, manufacturer website or supplied warranty information for product-specific details.

Where a product warranty is provided by the manufacturer, supplier or distributor, warranty claims may need to follow their assessment and approval process.

2. Warranty period

The warranty period begins from the date of purchase or invoice date unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer, supplier or distributor.

Different products may have different warranty periods. For example, laptops, desktops, monitors, accessories, printers, components and software-related products may each have different warranty terms.

If you are unsure about the warranty period for a product, please contact us before placing an order or after purchase with your order details.

3. Warranty claims

To submit a warranty claim, customers should contact Onkabetse IT Solutions with the product details and a description of the issue.

Warranty claims may require:

  • proof of purchase or invoice;
  • product serial number;
  • model number;
  • description of the fault;
  • photos or videos showing the issue where relevant;
  • original packaging or accessories where required;
  • supplier or manufacturer assessment.

Some warranty claims may require the product to be sent to the supplier, distributor or manufacturer for inspection before an outcome is confirmed.

4. Warranty assessment

Warranty claims are subject to inspection and assessment. Onkabetse IT Solutions may need to consult with the supplier, distributor or manufacturer before confirming whether a product qualifies for repair, replacement, credit or refund.

Assessment timelines may vary depending on the product, supplier process, manufacturer process, availability of replacement parts and courier timelines.

5. Possible warranty outcomes

Where a warranty claim is approved, the outcome may include one of the following:

  • repair of the product;
  • replacement with the same or similar product;
  • supplier or manufacturer credit;
  • refund where applicable;
  • another remedy approved by the supplier, distributor or manufacturer.

The final warranty outcome may depend on the supplier, distributor or manufacturer’s warranty terms and the nature of the fault.

6. Warranty exclusions

Warranty cover does not usually apply where damage or failure is caused by:

  • physical damage;
  • liquid damage;
  • power surges or electrical faults;
  • misuse, abuse or negligence;
  • incorrect installation or setup;
  • unauthorised repairs or modifications;
  • use outside the manufacturer’s guidelines;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • accidental damage;
  • damage caused by incompatible accessories, chargers, cables or third-party parts;
  • removed, damaged or altered serial number labels or warranty labels.

If a product is found to be damaged due to any excluded reason, the warranty claim may be declined and assessment, courier or repair costs may be charged where applicable.

7. Software and licence products

Software products, licence keys, subscriptions and digital products may be subject to the warranty, activation and support terms of the software publisher or vendor.

Once a software product has been opened, activated, downloaded, issued, registered or linked to a customer account, it may not be returnable unless defective or otherwise required by law.

Customers should confirm software compatibility, subscription terms, licence type and activation requirements before purchasing.

8. Data responsibility

Customers are responsible for backing up their data before submitting a device for warranty assessment, repair or replacement.

Onkabetse IT Solutions, suppliers, distributors and manufacturers will not be responsible for loss of data, software, settings, licences, files or configurations during inspection, repair, replacement or warranty assessment.

9. Courier and handling for warranty claims

Customers may be responsible for courier or transport costs related to warranty assessment unless otherwise required by law or agreed in writing by Onkabetse IT Solutions.

Where a warranty claim is approved, the supplier, distributor or manufacturer may determine the applicable return or replacement process.

For warranty-related courier handling, we will advise the customer of the applicable process before the product is sent for assessment where possible.

10. Products damaged on arrival

If a product arrives damaged, please contact us within 24 hours of receiving the delivery.

Damaged-on-arrival issues should be reported with photos of the product, packaging and delivery condition. Please keep the original packaging until the issue has been reviewed.

Damaged deliveries may be handled under our Returns and Refund Policy, courier claim process or supplier assessment process, depending on the circumstances.
